On 2nd December 2018, Prof G.M.T Emezue was among the few scholars that were presented with the Carnegie Corporation of New York Scholar’s award. This CCNY award is in recognition of Prof Emezue’s academic excellence and vital contributions to knowledge and scholarship. The CCNY award was given to Prof G.M.T Emezue during the 2018 African Studies Association’s conference, to which she was invited to make a presentation on “The Politics of Global Ranking and the fate of Knowledge Production in Africa: A Study of the Narratives of University Ranking, Researches and Publications in some selected Nigerian Universities.” The African Studies Association’s conference was held at Marriott Marquis Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia between November 29th – 2nd December 2018.
Among the 2018 recipients of the Carnegie Corporations of New York award were: Prof G.M.T Emezue (Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Nigeria), Dr Richard Alemdjrodo (University of Lome, Togo), Dr Folusho Balogun, (University of Ibadan, Nigeria), Dr Simbarashe Gukurume (University of Cape Town, South Africa), Dr Emily Comfort Maractho (Uganda Christian University, Uganda), Dr Eve Nabulya (Makerere University, Uganda), Dr Rebacca Ohene-Asah (University of Ghana, Ghana), Dr Duncan Omanga (Moi University, Kenya) and Dr Madalitso Zililo Phiri (University of South Africa).
